Overview

La Prima Casa Montessori is a well-established Montessori preschool with more than 15 years of educating the South Florida youth. We are currently in the process of searching for Lead Primary Teachers for the 2022-2023 School Year.

SUMMARY

Guides the children in the classroom with strict adherence to Montessori principles, plans and directs long and short-range activities, and assumes responsibility for the safety, welfare, and education of the students

Montessori Leadership

Establish and maintain Montessori classroom culture, paying particular attention to the needs of students or parents new to the Montessori philosophy
Lead with enthusiasm, confidence, punctuality, and team spirit
Plan, prepare and maintain all units of study, lessons, and materials
Ensure that children arrive each day in a clean, well-prepared Montessori learning environment.
Spend at least 30 minutes daily preparing the classroom for the following day
Contribute to classroom and facility clean-up as requested by the school administration
Regularly review student progress, teaching priorities, and classroom concerns with Assistant Teacher
Maintain individual student records necessary for progress monitoring
Call to the attention of the Administrator any students with special difficulties or needs and be prepared to discuss with parents
Implement and update curriculum as student needs dictate
Contact and meet with specialists and/or parents regarding children with special needs
Schedule all guest presenters and organize field trips
Prepare Kindergarteners for standardized testing
Plan and prepare children and the materials needed to perform two annual shows for families
Promote healthy eating practices, encouraging grace and courtesy during meal times
Care for all classroom animals and plants
Organize teacher planning days for changing out materials, cleaning, reorganizing works, and providing feedback and training as needed
Record-Keeping:

Carefully observe and keep records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom, always being available to offer gentle guidance
Organize a record-keeping system for aides regarding children’s works
Record and maintain student progress and attendance using Montessori Workspace
Complete individual Montessori records including Parent-Teacher Conference forms for all students for their permanent folders twice a year
Prepare and deliver Kindergarten files to Elementary teacher for Kindergarteners continuing in the
Montessori lower elementary program

Supervision of Classroom Assistants

Advise administration on the hiring of classroom assistants, making sure an effective team/learning environment is created and maintained through careful oversight of and feedback to those aides
Provide supervision to assistant teacher, including guidance, development, and evaluation with help from the Director
Be responsible and ensure that all classroom assistants are in adherence to school policies
Conduct weekly classroom staff meetings
Conduct 5-10 hours of training to assist within the first month of the school year
Participate in staff evaluations
Hours: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Educational Qualifications: o B.S., B.A. degree or higher in Education, Early Childhood Education/Child Development; or o B.S., B.A. degree or higher out of field WITH at least twelve (12) college credit hours in early childhood education/child development AND at least 480 hours experience in an education setting serving children ages birth through eight (8).

Montessori Accreditation Certificate by AMI or AMS
First Aid/CPR Training
40-clock-hour Introductory Child Care training comprised of Part I and Part II courses
5-clock-hour (or .5 Continue Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development, within 1 year of employment
10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training completed between July 1 and June 30 each year
PREFERRED SKILLS

National Early Childhood Certificate – Active National Child Development Associate (CDA) or another early childhood credential that meets or exceeds the requirements of the National CDA and is recognized by regulatory agencies in at least five (5) states. Recognition is determined by the Department.
