Overview

Position Overview:

Job responsibilities include working closely with two of our primary teachers to support their classrooms. Tasks include making materials, and supervising children while other staff are on breaks. The age group is 2 years 9 months – 6 years old.

Key Responsibilities Include the Following:

Supporting daily operational tasks in two classrooms
Material making and light material prepping (sewing, cutting paper, making playdough, punching holes in paper, etc.)
Supervising children during staff breaks (always maintaining line of sight).
Covering in the classroom as needed when staff are out (being an on-call substitute for Assistant positions as needed).

 

Required Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes:

Candidates must have a minimum of 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units and be actively enrolled in classes to complete a total of 12 units
Experience working with young children

A joy for crafting or an excitement to learn

Basic computer skills
A collaborative and flexible approach to working with colleagues
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Ability to successfully complete a background check

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Exceptional candidates:

Have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Are a fluent Spanish speaker
Are knowledgeable about Montessori principles and have a desire to learn more
Are able to sit on the floor
Are able to get up and down from the floor with ease
Are able to lift and carry 40 pounds

Salary:
This is a non-exempt, full-time hourly position. The pay range is $24-$28 per hour. This includes paid holidays during the school year. Summer break is unpaid.

Our salary and benefits package is very competitive, including health and dental and paid sick leave in accordance with California State laws for hourly positions.
