Lead Montessori Upper Elementary and Middle School Teacher

Salem Montessori School, Salem, Virginia, Seeks Lead Montessori Elementary/Middle School Teacher.

Salem Montessori School, a successful and established infant through middle school in Salem, Virginia, is seeking a qualified and dedicated Lead Elementary/Middle School Teacher to join our vibrant community. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing our students’ intellectual, social, and emotional growth in a carefully prepared Montessori environment.

What You’ll Do:
Planning, Preparation, and Instruction:
Develop and implement instruction aligned with Montessori philosophy and Salem Montessori School curriculum.
Utilize Montessori materials and guidelines to deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual and small group needs.
Foster cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual growth through varied activities and experiences.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and lesson plans.
Classroom Environment/Management:
Create a warm, accepting, and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning and independence.
Model Montessori principles of grace and courtesy, cooperation, and responsibility.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of classroom and materials, adhering to safety standards.
Coordinate daily maintenance tasks and supply replenishment.
Communication:
Effectively communicate school mission, policies, and expectations to staff, parents, and students.
Conduct parent conferences and provide regular updates on student progress.
Collaborate with the administration team on parent correspondence and school initiatives.
Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information and issues.
Personnel:
Mentor and support assistant teachers and staff in classroom management and curriculum delivery.
Collaborate with colleagues to share responsibilities and provide constructive feedback.
Attend staff meetings and engage in professional development activities.
Professional Responsibilities:
Engage in ongoing self-assessment and professional growth.
Participate in evaluation processes and set professional goals.
Attend relevant professional development opportunities.
Related Duties:
Adhere to school policies, procedures, and regulations.
Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
Participate in school events and meetings as required.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by school leadership.
Serve as the main point of contact for Head of School and School Directress for all Elementary and Middle school curriculum, personnel, curriculum, and support.

Physical stamina to meet classroom demands (including but not limited to repetitive bending, stretching, lifting up to 40 lbs, etc.).

Required Qualifications:
A valid Montessori teaching credential (AMI or AMS preferred).
Five years of experience working with elementary or middle school-aged students in a Montessori setting
Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field (preference in education)
Proficient in developmentally appropriate practices for Montessori elementary and middle school education

Minimum Starting Salary: $40,000 for Academic School Year (10 months)
