Overview

Sunrise is accepting applications for a qualified Montessori Head Teacher for 2022 – 2023.  ​This position begins in September 2022.

Sunrise is a private, non-profit (501c3) organization and provides quality Montessori preschool and kindergarten programs to children, ages 2.9 to 6. Our school was founded in 2005 and currently has 2 classrooms with an enrollment of 40 students.

​The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the classroom Assistant Teacher and other school staff. He/she must effectively plan, prepare and present lessons for a range of ages and ability levels. He/she must have demonstrated experience as a Head Teacher in a Montessori Primary classroom. Recent graduates of a MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) program are encouraged to apply.

Hours are full time from 8:00am to 3:30pm, (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week), Monday through Friday. Compensation is commensurate with your experience as a Head Teacher in Montessori classrooms and degree/certification earned. Benefits include dedicated planning time, paid sick days, personal days, Federal holidays, school vacation weeks (December, February, April), compensation for up to 20 hours of PDP workshops/seminars and annual membership in the American Montessori Society.

Applicants must have the following certifications to be considered for the position:
· Certification from an accredited Montessori Primary Teacher Program such as MACTE
(Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) or currently enrolled in a Montessori training program
· Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
· Qualified as a Lead Teacher by the Massachusetts DEEC
· Current CPR and First Aid or certification pending
