Country Meadows Montessori School in Gurnee, IL is looking to hire a Montessori Upper Elementary Director immediately for the Fall 2026-27 school year. This position would start in mid-August 2026.
The Upper Elementary Director leads a Montessori 9–12 classroom and guides the upper elementary program with clarity, warmth, and professionalism. This role blends instructional leadership, curriculum stewardship, and strong family partnership. The Director receives support with a full time Teaching Assistant..
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain an authentic, engaging, orderly Montessori environment for ages 9–12
- Deliver individualized and small‑group lessons across all subject areas
- Support executive functioning, project planning, and independent work habits
- Observe students, track progress, and prepare Montessori‑aligned reports
- Collaborate with assistant, specialists, and administration
- Communicate regularly with families and participate in school events
- Uphold Montessori philosophy, safety standards, and a culture of respect
Qualifications
- AMI/AMS Elementary II credential (or willingness to pursue)
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in Montessori upper elementary or traditional upper elementary
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Deep respect for children and commitment to Montessori principles
